Perched on the 15th floor of a striking downtown Chicago high-rise, this one-bedroom residence was designed as a personal expression — bold, confident, and unapologetically fun. Our client wanted her home to reflect her love of art, fashion, and vibrant living, while still feeling sophisticated and grounded within the clean, modern architecture of the building.
The design approach was about balance. We layered a fearless palette of teals, pinks, and citrus tones against the crisp lines of the high-rise shell. The color story draws inspiration from pop art and mid-century influences, but it’s refined through thoughtful materiality and proportion. Nothing feels chaotic — each hue has intention.
Custom furnishings anchor the space, complemented by curated vintage pieces that bring soul and individuality. In the bedroom, a tufted teal headboard creates a saturated focal point while layered textiles soften the edges. Throughout the home, statement artwork and playful accents add wit and personality without overwhelming the footprint.
Texture plays an equally important role — velvet, lacquer, warm woods, and polished surfaces create depth within the compact layout. Every corner was designed to be expressive yet functional, supporting both quiet evenings and lively gatherings.
Floor-to-ceiling windows frame sweeping skyline views, allowing the energy of downtown to pour in. The interior responds to that vibrancy, echoing the pulse of the city while offering a highly personal retreat above it all.
This is city living with personality — elevated, fearless, and entirely her own.
